Describe Illumina sequencing. How does the method of sequencing compare to the sequencing methods above?
Illumina sequencing a new method of DNA sequencing which depends upon reversible dye terminators for identification of single bases as they enters into the DNA strand . This method has various applications like it can be use for whole- genome sequencing, region sequencing, metagenimics , transcriptome analysis, methylation profiling and genome wide protein nucleic acid interaction study. Recently Illumina sequencing has been used for the transcriptome analysis of sweet potato.
This method is different from the traditional sequencing method like sangers sequencing method. As its automated processing makes it faster and multiple strands can be sequenced in one go. This method eploits only DNA polymerases however other sequencing methods use different enzymes which are must costly, like in pyrosequencing.
