Answer- The EKG sometimes may not detect severe underlying heart problems (when the patient is not having any symptoms). One of it's example is:- a patient giving a history of chest pain due underlying severe coronary artery disease. The patient might get a normal EKG at the time at which he/she doesn't experiences any symptoms of it. In that case, to get a EKG recording , the exercise stress test should be done that may reflect the underlying abnormality while being at rest , it will be normal.
