Until calcium ions remain in the sarcoplasm and bind with troponin and ATP is available,muscles continue to contract.when muscle contraction stops after motor neuron signalling have ended , voltage gated calcium channels close in the SR . Repolarization of sarcolemma and T- tubules occur and calcium ions are reabsorbed into the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR).This causes tropomyosin to Reshield the binding sites on actin strands and the relaxation cycle of muscle starts.
