Genes a and b are linked with 4% recombination. True breeding AB is crossed with true breeding ab, and F1 is testcrossed. What is the frequency of getting Aabb progeny? What about AaBb?

Answer #1

So, the total pouplation (100%) = % of parental categories + % of recombianant categories.

So, the % of parental categories = 100% - % of recombianant categories.
As the % of recombianant categories is 4%, the
the % of parental categories = 100% - 4% = 96%.

As each category contains two genotypes, individual genotype percentage =
% of each recombianant categorie is 4/2 = 2% and
% of each parental categorie is 96/2 = 48%.

As Aabb is recombinant progeny, the freequency is 2% and

as AaBb is the parental progeny, the freequency is 48%.

(5 pts) Genes D and E are located in the Drosophila genome. DE·DE females are crossed with de·de males to produce F1 flies that are heterozygous for both traits. What gametes do each of these parents make? F1 females were crossed with de·de males, and 2000 flies were examined. What gametes do each of these parents make?
