The process by which molecules spread from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration, when the molecules are even throughout the space is called EQUILIBRIUM. Molecules always move down the concentration gradient.

DIFFUSION is the random movement of molecules from higher to lower co concentration. The rate of simple diffusion is calculated by Ficks law of diffusion.

The basic structure of all membranes is a lipid bilayer. It is made up of 2 layers of lipid molecules. Two types of transport generally occurs between membranes 1. Active transport 2. Passive transport.
