How do chromatography and electrophoresis differ from one another?
Chromatography is a technique in which we separate the components of a sample without the use of electricity but in case of electrophoresis as name indicate electro means electricity we use electricity to separate the components of a sample . For example in Ascending paper chromatography to separate the photosynthetic pigments present in a cell we just load the sample on chromatograph and then place this paper in a running solvent made up of petroleum ether and acetone but in case to separate the DNA according to their size we apply electricity on the sample present in a gel and then sample move due to the net charge present on it and we can separate the molecules.
