What does the 5’-5’ linkage refer to in the mRNA cap?
5` end of the mRNA is processed and 7 methyl Guanosine is added to the 5` end, first gamma phosphate at the 5` end of the mRNA is removed ( gamma phosphate from the first nucleotide in the RNA) then GMP is added ( GMP is obtained by the removal of pyrophosphate from GTP), then GMP is methylated, this methyl guanosine is added to the 5` end via 5’-5’ linkage.
RNA transcribed is called pri-mRNA, 5`-5` linkage is formed between 5` end of the pri-mRNA and 5` end of guanosine.
so the answer is E) A and B
