What are some thermoregulatory and/or osmoregulatory factors that allow the Neobatrachus to survive in arid and hot climates like the desert?
The Neobatrachus survive in the hot climates of the desert by undergoing aestivation. During aestivation they stay dormant inside a burrow after they have accumulated water in their baldders to survive the high temperatures and teh lack of the rainy season.
During the dry season, the frogs burrow into the dry soil and tehir skin undergoes moulting process in which the epidermis becomes hardened and keratinized to form a coccon around the body so as to protect the organs and prevent water loss to the dry soil.
