Answer #1

According to Mendel's law of independent assortment, an organism with genotype AaBb, will produce what combination of gametes?

Gametes with genotypes AB, Ab, aB, and ab in roughly equal numbers

Explanation- The law of independent assortment states that when cross is made between two individuals different from each other in two or more characters, the inheritance of one character is independent of the inheritance of another character. Besides the parental types, recombinants are also obtained.

Types of gametes= 2n, where n is the number of hybrid traits.

Genotype of organism is AaBb, so it heterozygous for 2 loci

Therefore, n=2

So 22= 4

i.e., 4 types of gametes (AB, Ab, aB, ab)

Ps- An upvote would be highly appreciated

Which of the following is TRUE regarding the law of segregation and the law of independent assortment? Group of answer choices The law of independent assortment results in alleles at different loci (located on different chromosomes) assorting into gametes independently of each other. The law of independent assortment states that maternal and paternal alleles assort into separate gametes during meiosis. The law of segregation states that alleles coding for different traits separate randomly into gametes, regardless of the activity of...
