This structure is numerous in leaf cells and is the site of photosynthesis A. Vacuole B. Chloroplast C. Ribosome D. Nucleus
Chloroplasts are the sites of photosynthesis in plants. All green parts of a plant, including green stems and unripened fruit have chloroplasts. However, the leaves are the major sites of photosynthesis in most plants. Occurrence of chloroplasts in leaf surface is about half million per square millimeter. Chloroplasts contain a green substance called chlorophyll that makes the leaf color as green. Chlorophyll absorbs the light energy that drives the synthesis of food molecules in chloroplast. It is important to note that not all the color wavelengths of light are absorbed. Plants mostly absorb red and blue wavelengths and they do not absorb light from the green range.
