Explain how you produce iPS cells and what you would use them for?
Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells) They are a type of pluripotent stem cell that is generated from adult somatic cells such as peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) by genetic reprograming or the 'forced' introduction of reprogramming genes (Oct4, Sox2, Klf4 and c-Myc).
iPS cells offer a unique chance to model human disease and are already being used to make new discoveries about premature aging, congenital heart disease, cancer etc. It is also seen as a positive alternative to pluripotent stem cells from embryos or eggs.
