Group of answer choices
Didadenosine, 2.5 x 10-6 M
6-Azauridine, 2.0 x 10-6 M
Stavudine, 4.6 x 10-7 M
Zidovudine, 1.3 x 10-8 M
Answer : A
Reverse transcriptase inhibitors Belongs to the class of antiretroviral agents used in treating HIV ( Human immuno deficiency virus). Zidovudine alone is less effective than didanosine. Didanosine is more efficient to treat HIV either by administrating alone or it can be combined with zidovudine. Didanosine has longer intracellular duration than zidovudine leading to prolonged antiretroviral activity.
Stavudine is also effective in treating but should not be combined with didadnosine because it might cause life threatening side effects.
