How does FRET work? I understand that it involves two fluorescent proteins and their proximity to each other can determine whether only 1 or both light up from excitation from light, but I dont understand how this tells us about biochemical processes?

FRET can be used to estimate the distances between the domains which are present in a single protein and consequently it can help us by providing information about protein conformation. FRET can also recognize the interaction between proteins. When FRET is Implemented in vivo, FRET we can detect the position and intercommunications of genes and cellular structures including integrins and membrane proteins. FRET can be utilized to collect information about metabolic pathways and is also used to analyze lipid rafts in cell membranes
