Answer:- Pre-irrigation of fields done to control the weeds is a very common practice among the farmers. Weeds not only reduce the production of crop but also deteriorate its quality and harbors insect pest. So it is imperative to used various methods to control weeds. Irrigation prior to crop planting may be a way to stimulate weed emergence and growth so that weeds can be killed by tillage, prior to seeding of the desired crop. This also helps in reducing the use of herbicides, which in turn makes the crop productivity better.
