how dose hcl affect planarian

how dose hcl affect planarian

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The planarian's regeneration rate is negatively affected by an increase in acidity (HCl). Within a solution of 0.01N of HCl, the planaria can swim away in response to coming in contact with the said solution. Acidic solution (HCl) can significantly inhibits the regeneration of planaria. Worms exposed to Hcl suffered compromised strength and growth. This is important because if animals lower on the food chain are eliminated by pollution such as acid rain caused by acidic pollution, animals higher on the food chain will also be affected.
