In highly complex samples there will be many components in the
sample.
For purification it is important to separate each component
from the sample.
By following segmented flow analysis or flow injection analysis
the samples can be crudely checked for a particular component.
Here each single component cannot be separated .This is a major
drawback.
Moreover in such procedures , the analyte used for measuring
itself interferes with the components of the sample.
Centrifugal analysers and discrete analysers are more effective
in separating complex samples and hence segmented flow analysis or
flow injection analysis are of less interest.
These methods also involve lot of reagents that are toxic to
the sample and hence there is limitation in usage of such
procedures.
Hence these are the above reasons for limitation in use of such
procedures .
