Answer #1

Answer- The compound microscope is a light microscope that uses visible light as energy source generate magnified images of small objects through the lenses. The working principle of the compound microscope is:-

A beam of visible lightis falls on the base and then it is focused by a condenser lens onto the object. Then, the light transmitted by the object reaches the objective lens and creates a magnified image of the oject. This image may gets magnified by the ocular lens or eyepiece.

Choose the correct statement regarding a compound microscope being used to look at a mite. The eyepiece lens forms a real image of the mite. The converging objective lens forms a virtual image of the mite. The eyepiece lens forms a virtual image of the mite. If the focal distance of the objective lens is shortened, then its magnification decreases. The mite should be located at the focal point of the objective lens.

The resolving power of a microscope is proportional to the wavelength used. A resolution of 1.0  10-11 m (0.010 nm) would be required in order to "see" an atom. (a) If electrons were used (electron microscope), what minimum kinetic energy would be required for the electrons? keV (classically) keV (relativistically) (b) If photons were used, what minimum photon energy would be needed to obtain 1.0  10-11 m resolution? keV
