Give 3 differences in RNA and DNA molecules.

Give 3 differences in RNA and DNA molecules.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The three differences in RNA and Dna molecules are-

DNA- it stands for deoxyribonucleic acid and contains a deoxyribose sugar molecule with no oxygen molecule present on 2' Carbon of sugar molecule.

• Dna is a double stranded molecule and base pairing occurs in Dna like, adenine binds with thymine and cytosine binds with guanine. These all are nitrogenous bases.

• Dna is more stable under alkaline conditions .

RNA- it stands for ribonucleic acid and contains a ribose sugar. Means a hydroxyl group is present on the 2'Carbon of the sugar molecule.

• Rna molecule is usually single stranded. If it is double stranded, then it do not have base thymine . Instead it has uracil.

• Rna is not such stable molecule under alkaline conditions.

Which of the following statements is NOT true? RNA molecules have an antiparallel orientation to the DNA strands to which they are complementary During RNA synthesis, the DNA template strand is read in a 3’ to 5’ direction Both DNA and RNA are synthesized in a 5’ to 3’ direction During RNA synthesis the direction of synthesis and the location of the transcriptional start site are determined by the position of the promoter. During RNA synthesis, new nucleotides are initially...

Which of the following statements is a TRUE comparison between RNA and DNA? Note: This question has "adaptive" scoring. There will usually be one multiple choice question on every tutorial with "adaptive" scoring. You will be able to try the question again if you initially get it incorrect but there will be a penalty applied for each wrong answer. Select one: a.
