Answer #1

The process that is hypothesized to be responsible for the free oxygen in our atmosphere began with the EVOLUTION OF OXYGENIC PHOTOSYNTHESIS PROCESS.

The primitive earth contained predominantly a reducing environment. It favored the stabilization of intermediate life forms.

The evolution of photosynthetic bacteria triggered the production oxygen. This rapidly lead to the great oxygenation event and replaced the reducing environment with the oxidizing environment.

The oxidizing environment eliminated the intermediate unstable life forms and produced stable forms.

10. Nitrogen and oxygen do not react appreciably at room temperature, as illustrated by our atmosphere. But at high temperatures, the reaction below can proceed to a measurable extent. N2(g) + O2(g) ⇔ 2 NO(g) At 3000 K, the reaction above has Keq = 0.0153. If 0.2452 mol of pure NO is injected into an evacuated 2.0-L container and heated to 3000K, what will be the equilibrium concentration of NO?

The partial pressure of water at 298 K is 23 mbar in our atmosphere. A thirsty explorer wants to condense water vapour in the air to drink. What is the minimum volume of air he needs to work with to obtain 1 L of water through this process? Remember that the density of water is 1 g/mL.

Which is the best description of how burning coal contributes to acid rain? During the process of burning coal, acids are released into the atmosphere and are precipitated during rain storms. During the process of burning coal, nonmetal oxides are produced which react with the moisture in our atmosphere and sometimes the oxygen as well to produce acid rain. By-products of coal fired power plants include metal oxides which combine with the moisture in our atmosphere to produce acid rain....

An iron-carbon alloy initially containing 0.219 wt% C is exposed to an oxygen-rich and virtually carbon-free atmosphere at 1190°C. Under these circumstances the carbon diffuses from the alloy and reacts at the surface with the oxygen in the atmosphere; that is, the carbon concentration at the surface position is maintained essentially at 0.0 wt% C. At what position will the carbon concentration be 0.164 wt% after a 8 h treatment? The value of D at 1190°C is 1.6 × 10-10...
