Why is it important that plants maintain appropriate temperatures and pH to ensure that all of the enzymes of respirarion where fully functional. What would happen if one or more enzymes were not functional?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

One of the characteristic property of enzymes is that they work within a specific temperature and pH range. Temperature and pH below or above the range drastically affects the enzyme function due to the denaturation of the enzyme. Therefore it is important for the cell to maintain appropriate temperatures and pH to ensure all the enzymes (whether related to respiration or any other biochemical activity) are fully functional.

if one or more of the enzymes are not functiional, The overall biochemical process will come to halt as the respiratory metabolic pathway will get disrupted at that specific point where enzyme is non-functional. It will have an effect on the overall process of respiration. The biochemical process will not proceed beyond the point and hence the respiration will not accomplish.

1. a. Cells must maintain an appropriate level of fluidity across their membranes. Hot temperatures lead to greater membrane fluidity. What might you then expect to find regarding the membrane composition of bacteria from very hot environments? b.You have a cell with a fluorescently labeled lipid in equal abundance on the inner and outer leaflets of the cell membrane. You then photobleach an area of membrane of this cell. What will happen next to the bleached area? c. Phospholipid vesicles...

Obviously, acid-detecting proteins (that bind to protons) within the body are important to maintain homeostasis for a variety of physiological factors. There's a new plant-based toxin named Iocane that binds to and blocks all activity of these acid-detecting proteins. If you were poisoned with Iocane, what kinds of physiological effects would expect to see? Explain why you’d see those effects
