Explain the biological species concept. Why is it not perfect definition of a species? Give an example to support your answer.

According to biological species concept, Species are the group of populations which are capable of interbreeding freely in nature irrespective of their morphological appearance. But this concept excludes those organisms which undergo asexual reproduction like prokaryotes because they do not interbreed.

Similarly, other major drawback of this concept is difficulty in studying gene flow and reproductive behaviour of species which are obtained only from fossil remains
