Which statement is true about a plasma membrane?

Group of answer choices

It is a rigid structure that protects the cell like a shell.

It is composed of a single layer of phospholipids.

The molecules that make up most of the plasma membrane are polar at their heads and tails.

The molecules that make up the membrane are phospholipids.

The molecules making up the plasma membrane are locked in place.

Answer #1

Statement- the molecules that make up the membrane are phospholipids.

- the main function of the plasma membrane is to protect the cell from its surrounding. It controls what enters and what exists the cell.

- The molecules that make up the membrane are phospholipids. The plasma membrane is composed mainly of a bilayer of phospholipid molecules, which is two layer of phospholipid back to back. The phospholipids have one head and two tails. Head is Polar and hydrophilic and tail is nonpolar and hydrophobic.

Plasma membrane has three components(i.e., phospholipids, cholesterol and proteins). These all move freely and fluidly in the Plane of the membrane.
