Compare fermentation to aerobic respiration in terms of process, total energy production and glucose oxidation
Aerobic respiration is much more efficient in terms of production of energy . This respiration occurs in presence of oxygen.
In aerobic respiration glucose---- glycolysis -- pyruvate
Next pyruvate--- acetyl COA by Pyruvate dehydrogenase enzymes. This step occur only if oxygen is present
Later acetyl co A enter in to TCA cycle.
So in aerobic respiration large amount of energy is produced
**While whenever oxygen is absent there is anaerobic respiration, energy produced by anaerobic respiration is very low.
As only glycolysis occurs, PSH and TCA cycle is not occur in absence of oxygen.
