What are some things that might activate gluconeogenesis?
Gluconeogenesis is the process, in which new glucose molecule is synthesized from carbohydrate or non carbohydrate sources (lipids, protein). it takes place in the liver.
it occurs when the level of glucose is decreased due to over utilization of glucose, delayed diets, longer fastings, starvation etc.
the gluconeogenesis is also promoted / increased under the influence of glucagon hormone. it is release in response to low blood glucose level and promotes the synthesis of glucose through gluconeogenesis.
Insulin hormone decreases the gluconeogenesis and it promotes the utilization of glucose present in the blood.
