Homework Answers

Answer #1

1 gram of fat is equivalent to 9 kcal. Therefore to get the calories are determined by multiplying the fat in grams by 9.

Here,

Total fat = 24.33 grams

Saturated fat = 5.24 grams.

Number of calories from total fat = 24.33 x 9 = 218.97 kcal

Number of calories from saturated fat = 5.24 x 9 = 47.16 kcal

To calculate the percent of kcal, the calories from the fat is divided by the total number of calories and multiply it by 100. For example if the total calorie intake is '420' (not provided in the question). Then the percentage fat calories are calculated as follows.

Percentage calories of total fat = (218.97 / 420) x 100 = 52.13%

Percentage calories of saturated fat = (47.16/420) x 100 =11.22%
