Answer #1

The endosymbiotic theory states that some of the organelles in eukaryotes like the mitochondria and the choloroplasts came from prokaryotic organisms, who were taken in by the eukaryotic cells, and established an endosymbiotic relationship with them.

The mitochondria is considered to be an early prokaryote. It has its own genome, and ribosomes share similarities with that of prokaryotes. They are thought to have been derived from the endosymbiosis of archaebacteria.

The choloroplast is another such organelle. It also has its own genome, and can divide independently by binary fission. They are thought to be derived from the nitogen fixing cyanobacteria.
