biuret test is coducted to detect existence of peptide bonds in
proteins. peptide bonds turns the sample to purple colour on
reacting with copper ions. the protein proportion will be
identified based on the intensity of the purple colour.
the limitations include,
1. it indicates only presence of peptide bonds but not the actual
count of the bonds in the protein.
2. colour of the other componenets in the sample can fluctuate the
purple colour of the protein.
3.this test will not detect amino acids in the protein.
4. this test will not detect the very small peptide bond
concentrations in the proteins.
5. this test will not give accurate results if the sample is not
diluted properly or if it is blurred and below the standard value
of 5mg/ml
