How does the neural plate forms with coordination of the floor plate? Relate the answer to both structure (ectoderm thing) and cadherin proteins please.
Floor plate is the structure present in the ventral midline of embryonic neural tube. The naive ectoderm or uncommited ectoderm is first induced to become committed to the neural lineage, this is called neural induction.
The notochord induce commintment on getting signal from node or its derivatives, during gastrulation. The inducer substances are secreted by prechordal plate and the cranial portion of the notochordal plate. These secretions are responsible for the commitment of ectodermal cells to neural lineage by dorsalising the epiblast cells. The suppression of induction of epidermal fate provides the neural plate as default state of naive ectoderm. For example noggin, chordin, fillistatin are the proteins which inhibit the expression of BMP-4 in amphibians. The suppression of bone morphogenetic protein- 4 is responssible for the neural induction.
