Answer) cleistogamic species are those species of flower which do not open at all and mainly self pollinate. As we knw that self pollination introduced inbreeding depression and hence plant will lose its vigorousity and may result in expression of some lethal genes . In this condition meiosis provides better chance of giving recombination to gametes and hence different offspring formation .or give new genetic combination.henxe meiosis is necessary in these type of flower.
