Answer- genotype frequencies-
Total population is 512+320+115 = 947
To calculate frequency of AA= no of AA / total population
So 512 / 947 = 0.54
Frequency of aa = 115/947 = 0.12
Frequency of Aa = 320/947 = 0.33.
To calculate allele frequency f( A) = (AA÷ 1/2 Aa)÷ 947.
So 0.54 + 0.165 = 0.705
f(a) =( aa ÷ 1/2 Aa )÷ 947 = 0.121 + 0.165 = 0.286.
Another method is to subtract from 1 as all sum of frequencies is always one.
So 1- 0.705= 0.295 which is frequency of A.
The variation in both answers is because the total sum is 947 and not 1000. When 1 is taken its assumed the population is 1000.
The sum of allele frequencies is always less than one or should be 1.the allele frequencies would add upto 1 if the total population was 1000 .
