would you use metatranscriptomics, metagenomics, or analyzation of 16s rRNA genes to observe the changes in cyanobacterial growth day vs night. explain why and what you would find from the method.

Answer #1

One shall use metatranscriptomics in order to study the changes in cynobacterial growth during day vs during night. Tranacript level vary according to the requirement of their corresponding proteins. Hence studying the varkari on in transcripts would give a preliminary lead towards the mechanism of growth during night and day.

Metagenomics is the study of genetic material, here the DNA, obtained from an environmental source. Genome of and organism shall never change in an organism, at the sequence level

16s rRNA remains majorly among the prokaryotic organisms and hence will not changes over day and night. It codes for a ribosomal protein which is essential and hence constitutively expressed.

Photosynthetic eukaryotes have genes for rRNA in their nuclei, mitochondria, and chloroplasts. Based on what you know about the origins of mitochondria and chloroplasts, which of the statements below would best describe the evolutionary relationship between the rRNA genes found in these three organelles? a. Mitochondrial, chloroplast, and nuclear rRNA are all derived from distant relatives. b. There is no reason to assume that any of the three rRNA genes are similar to closely or distantly related relatives. c. Mitochondrial...

You will observe the Moon and its position in the evening sky every night for approximately 2 weeks as it goes from new moon to full moon. 1. Why does the amount of the moon that is lit up change from night to night? 2. Why must your observations be made at the same time every day for this project to work? 3. Why couldn't we continue this project in the same way for a full lunar cycle?

When studying metabolic pathways, there's many experimental techniques you can use in a lab. Imagine you are studying the effects of certain pills on the expression of the genes involved in metabolism. From your work in the facility, you know that the genes for all of the enzymes involved have been cloned. Your goal is to test how these genes respond to three separate concoctions; even though you have unlimited funds, you are short on time and can only pick...

At a resort high in the mountains, it snows almost every night. You would like to know whether the daily snowfall is associated with the frequency of a particular species of bird: the Canadian Snowbird. Unfortunately, the data you have only tells you whether it snowed more or less than average each night, not exactly how much. Your bird data is better, telling you the exact number of Snowbirds that were seen each day. Describe what statistic(s) you would use...
