After learning about breast cancer, a young woman of 22 years old decides that she should get a mamogram every 6 months so that any cancer can be detected early. Her doctor does not agree with this and her insurance company refuses to cover it. What should she do?

According to rules and laws, as per the Affordable Care Act, the insurance needs to cover annual mammograms starting at the age of 40. However in this there are two options that the lady can opt for:-

  1. Go for a co-insurance plan – It is an amount which is basically a fixed percentage that the insured individual needs to pay against the claim after the satisfied deductible. This is a process of making a co-payment.
  2. Second option is to go for an insurance plan that covers mammograms only once a year as it is allowed and required by law.
