Homework Answers

Answer #1

Pancreas of a healthy person secretes hormones like insulin and glucagon. Insulin is released when the blood sugar levels are increased following a meal and glucagon is released when there is hypoglycemia which is low blood sugar levels.

By comparing the blood sugar levels of both Maria and Tamika, it is found that Tamika is diabetic because of increased blood sugar levels. Diabetic is a condition caused by elevated blood sugar levels. Tamika is found to have higher blood sugar levels and is therefore considered to be diabetic. The normal blood sugar levels ranges from 4 to 5.9 mmol/l .
