Draw an RNA nucleotide and a DNA nucleotide, highlighting the differences. How is the structure of RNA similar to that of DNA? How is it different?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

RNA and DNA they both are type of nucleic acid.

They both are the polynucleotidic structures.

Both the above are the similarities between RNA and DNA.

Dissimilarities:

  • Rna stands for ribonucleic acid and dna stands for deoxyribose nucleic acid.
  • RNA is single stranded and dna is double stranded.
  • RNA has ribose sugar and dna has deoxyribose sugar.
  • RNA has uracil base and DNA has thymine in place of it.
  • RNA is generally the genetic material in viruses and DNA forms the genetic material in the majority of organisms.
