Only one primer is included in the cycle sequencing reaction. This differs from the 2 primer strategy you used for PCR. Knowing this, which of the following do you predict is true of the cycle sequencing reaction products? (use the ppt slide visuals to verify your answer).

Group of answer choices

A. They are synthesized from only one template strand of the double-stranded plasmid

B. They are synthesized from both template strands of the double-stranded plasmid

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Option A

Double stranded template DNA is denatured during polymer is chain reaction at high temperature to form single stranded DNA molecules.

To 3' end of each of the single stranded DNA molecule primer binds. There are two primers and two single stranded DNA molecules.

This results in an exponential increase in the copy number of template DNA.

But if there is a single primer, then it will bind to only one of the strands and this will result in a linear amplification of number of template DNA molecules.

Please rate high.
