What are the only animals that do not have a ‘true gut?’
Answer
The " gut " is also called coelom. The coelom is the body cavity that originated from the mesoderm layer during the gastrula stage of embryo development. According to the types coelom the animals are divided into 3 groups
Acoelomates: The animals which have no coelom.
Eg: Flatworm
Pseudocoelomates: The animals which have a false coelom.
Eg: Roundworm
Coelomates: The animals which have a true coelom.
Eg: All animals of Annelida
The Roundworm are pseudocoelomate or they do not have true gut because the body cavity or pseudocoelome where the organs are floating is developed neither from mesoderm nor mesodermal peritoneum. During the development of the embryo, the mesenchyme party filled the blastocoel and the vacant part of blastocoel exists as pseudocoelom.
