What is the advantage of using an LMO2 transgenic mouse model to research T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia?

LIM domain only 2 (LOM2) is a protein encoded by LMO2 gene. It is the member of LIM only (LMO) transcription factor which has zinc-finger motifs.LMO2 has a vital role in hematopoiesis; it is also highly conserved. Its overexpression is the cause of T-cell acute lymphoblast leukaemia(T-ALL). LMO2 transgenic mouse expresses Lmo2 in thymus and develops a T-cell leukaemia similar to Human T-ALL. Thus the advantage of using this model is that the cellular origin of T-ALL can be investigated.
