If a stimulus is greater than threshold stimulus, it enhances the frequency of action potentials. Suprathreshold stimulus are large in magnitude, and thus bring out action potential in excitable cells. Generally, it can causes depolarization of the membrane, and the magnitude of the depolarization is much greater than what is necessary.
