Nucleotide Composition;
If you are given the % composition of one nucleotide in any organisms genome, you should be able to calculate the % composition of the other three.

How to go about this? Any examples?

Answer #1

C = G and A =T in quantities respectively.

Cytosine and Guanine have same percentage.

Adenine and Thymine have same percentage.

If 15% of the nucleotides in a DNA molecule contain guanine, what percentage of the nucleotides contains each of the other 3 bases?

15%-cytosine,

35%-adenine,

35%- Thymine
because there is the same amount of cytosine as guanine and so there is only 70% left, which if you split in half is 35 each because they are also the same amount

A 3000 bp region of the human genome encodes two genes. One of the genes encodes a protein of 700 amino acids and the other gene encodes a protein of 310 amino acids. In the past, students who have had organisms grow all over a Mueller Hinton plate without any antibiotics, but then they don’t grow at all on a plate when we include antibiotic disks. How would you interpret this? On the chance that you interpreted this as it being incredibly susceptible to one or more of the antibiotics – how would you go about discovering which one?

In January, General Motors laid off 2,000 workers. Suppose you are hired as a consultant to estimate the impact of these layoffs on the number of cars that GM will be able to produce this year. To do so, you need to estimate the marginal productivity of workers at GM. You go to the company’s web page and learn that the company pays the average worker $140,000 per year and is able to sell the average car for $20,000. If...
