List and describe the typical steps in municipal wastewater treatment. List the objectives of each step
There are 9 steps of wastewater treatment. These are-
1)- collection-collect the wastewater from local river , lake etc.
2)-screening - screen out the large items from water. Large items trapped on screen.
3)- chemical addition- chemicals are added to help the particles floating in water clumps together form a heavier.
4)- coagulation- coagulant is added to provide quick mixing.
5)- sedimentation- the large particles are settled out in bottom and then removed these particles.
6)- filtration- clarify water enter into filter from top. Smaller particles are removed.
7)- disinfection- to remove bacteria and virus disinfectant are added. Most common disinfectant is chlorination.
8)- storage- after disinfection process water is stored.
9)- distribution- the stored water is pushed through underground pipelines.
