With respect to newly synthesized secreted proteins describe how they are sorted and transported through the Golgi?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

When proteins secreted they move to golgi by following pathway

rough endoplasmic reticulum carries it first then by endoplasmic reticulum it carries to golgi transport vesicles.from there to golgi cisternae.which carried it to secretary or transport vesicles.

all the protein retained within golgi complex are associated with the golghi membrane rather than being soluble proteins within lumen.

protein packaging mediated by cargo receptor, processing in immature secretory vesicles. regulated secretion after signaling from specialised vesicles. and continuous, unregulated secretion

The movements of newly synthesized proteins can be followed through cells using a "pulse-chase" experiment.  During synthesis, proteins are tagged with a radioactive isotope (the "pulse"), then the cells are allowed to process the proteins for varying periods of time.  The locations of the radioactive proteins are then determined by isolating cell organelles and quantifying their levels of radioactivity. What would be the expected pathway for a protein that is secreted from the cell?

Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) is synthesized in the hypothalamus and transported to the anterior pituitary. How does GnRH reach the anterior pituitary? Group of answer choices It is transported directly to the anterior pituitary by axons of the hypothalamic-hypophyseal tract. it is transported by axons to the posterior pituitary and diffuses from there into the anterior pituitary. It is released into the blood and travels through the systemic circulation before reaching the anterior pituitary. It is secreted into the hypophyseal portal...
