If plants have more than one kind of pigment, then why can't you see the other pigments during more of the year?
We usually cant visibly distinguish between all the pigments in plants. The green appearance of leaves is due to high Chlorophyll pigment content. For visually distinguishing all the pigments such as Carotenoids, Flavonoids etc in any month of the year one must perform a column chromatography technique which will give visual colour difference as per dark green uptil tinch of red and these pigmnets can be confirmed in a UV spectrophotometer analysis as ever specific pigment absorbs a particular wavelength of light.
