Polar covalent bonds result from : unequal sharing of electrons in an covlent bond.
Polar covalent bond is a particular type of covalent bond in which the electrons are shared by the atoms in such a way that they are closer to one atom most of the times compared to other atom. For example, water molecule where shared electron between Hygrogen and oxygen are closer to the Oxygen nucleus than the Hydrogen nucleus. This is because of the geometry of the molecule and the great electronegativity difference between the Hydrogen atom and the Oxygen atom.
In these bonds one part of the molecule has a parital negative charge (say Oxygen in case of water) and the other part have a partial positive charge (say Hydrogen in water).
