Define lung volume and air pressure. Then describe how changes in lung volume and air pressure within the lungs allow inspiration and expiration to occur.
Answer -
Lung volume - it is defined as the total volume of air occupy in lung during respiration. It is also known as lung capacity. It is 6 litres in adult. Air pressure - it is defined as the force exerted on a surface by particle of air.
Lung volume is divided into four volumes are following 1) Tidal volume - The total volume of air during normal inspiration and expiration. It is generally about 6liters in human.
2)Residual volume (RV) - the volume of air remaining in lung after normal expiration.
3) Expiratory reserve volume - The maximum volume of air exhale /expiration after normal expiration.
4) Inspiratory reserve volume - The maximum volume of air that can inhale after normal inspiration.
During all lung volume change in air pressure also .
