The purpose of this study was to determine the negative effects of triclosan - an antibacterial chemical commonly found in soap - on marine crustaceans. To do this, lobsters were exposed to one of four treatments: 1) 5 ml triclosan mixed into seawater, 2) 15 ml triclosan mixed into seawater, 3) 25 ml triclosan mixed into seawater, and 4) seawater only (no chemicals added). Lobster swimming speed was measured 24 hours following treatment exposure.
