what advantage does the process of crossing over bring to reproduction?

what advantage does the process of crossing over bring to reproduction?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The process of crossing over allows for a enormous amount of genetic diversity. Crossing over produces unique offspring, which are different from their parent. If crossing over does not occur, then all offsprings are identical to the parent, except for the possibility of mutation. It reduces the chances of the offspring inheriting a bad gene combination on the molecular level and permits a population for better adapt for a changing surroundings on the macro level.
