You are responsible for designing a drug that would target a Gram positive bacteria. What would you target at and why?
While forming a drug against the Gram positive bacteria, we should include penicillin, cloxacillin and erythromicin as these antibiotics are able to kill most of the gram positive bacterias.
Gram positive bacterias have peptidoglycan as their outer layers, and are easier to kill as their peptidoglycan layer absorbs antibiotics and cleaning products easily , which destroy them.
The drugs containing the above mentioned antibiotics like penicilin, erythromycin have the access to the thick ,porous peptidoglycan layer in the cell wall of gram -positive bacteria , which enables them to penetrate the cell easily and interact with peptidoglycan easily , thus killing the Gram positive bacteria.
