Precipitation refers to aggregation of insoluble particles of a liquid mixture by centrifugation.

DANA is insoluble in ethanol (ice cold).It aggregates together giving a pellet upon centrifugation.

It is useful in DNA precipitation assay.

3.Meat tenderizer :

It acts as protease enzyme (proteolytic).It breaks down peptide bonds of proteins into amio acids.

In case of DNA extraction, Meat tenderizer cuts the proteins away from DNA.(In the nucleus, the DNA is molded, folded and protected by proteins). Examples of meat tenderizer are bromelain, papain.
