How does the source and the sink relate to the Munch's pressure flow hypothesis, explaining the flow of solutes and water
Munch’s preasure flow hypothesis describes the movement of sap through the phloem. The movement of minerals and water through xylem is driven mostly by negative pressure and the movement through phloem is by hydrostatic pressure. This process is called as translocation and accompanied by the process known as phloem loading and unloading. Cells placed in the sugar source load sieve tube by osmosis and it devolop a pressure that pushes the sap low. The cells will deliver solutes out of the element of sieve tube and it will produce opposite effects. The sugar gradient from the source create pressure flow through sieve tube towards the sink.
