Hi,regarding to how dominant gene alleles and recessive gene alleles determine expression of single-gene traits.. I need to how the genetic basis of a health problem(diesease or disorder example) regarding dominant and recessive gene expression of single-gene traits relates to its::
a. Mode of inheritance and b. Causative and susceptibility genes. Please let me know where you found this so I can write a summary paper, please
Ans:
Single gene trait related to mode of inheritance:
If gene expression of trait is of dominant nature, then, it must be expressed to one of parents to transfer the trait to offsprings, however, if the gene expression of trait is of recessive nature, then, none of the two parents should be homozygous dominant to transfer the trait to offsprings.
Single gene trait related to causative and susceptibility:
If gene expression of trait is of dominant nature, then, It is highly causative and has high suceptibility, because, except a homozygous individual, in all other genetypes the trait will be expressed. But, If the gene expression of trait is recessive, it will be very less causative, and will be found in only individuals having homozygous recessive genotypes.
